Hitting the road can be a huge adventure. There’s nothing quite like disembarking from a long haul flight and the sun hitting you in the face. Wash Your Hands
As soon as you take your seat on the plane, your body is being exposed to billions of bacteria that can make your trip a thing of misery. The trays on the seats in front of you are often a veritable breeding ground. Carry some antibacterial hand gel and use it throughout the flight. Use it on your tray and after landing, keep that little bottle handy. It could make your trip a safer experience.
It’s a classic bad move. You are hot and parched. A long, cool drink is really what you need. The freshly squeezed orange juice looks so delicious. You lift the glass to your lips and drink the chilled liquid. The cooling effect is amazing. You feel refreshed and relaxed. Three hours later the vomiting begins. It is an easy mistake to make. The ice in the drink may have been made with the local water, not bottled water. Keep a keen eye on your drinks and if you are not sure of the origin of the ice, simply go without.
As with the ice, water can be the source of terrible disease. Bottled water comes into it’s own when you are on the road. It is guaranteed to save your poor stomach from tragedy. However, check that the seal is intact as some entrepreneurs refill the bottles with local water.
Do not forget to use bottled water to clean your teeth, it is an easy mistake to make.
And finally, drink it ! A change in climate and a refocus on your usual activities can make you forget about your liquid friend. It is easy to quickly become dehydrated when travelling. Make sure you always have a bottle to hand, even in cold climates. If bottled water is not available then hopefully you planned ahead and brought a filter or water purification tablets. If all else fails buy bottles of local soda to keep you hydrated.
Your travels could take you anywhere in the world. Sometimes this is the problem. Try spending a few days in the hustle of a major city such as Delhi or New York. The frenetic pace and sheer stimulation in such a place can start to drag you down. The noise assault on the senses can be overwhelming and become far too much. So the answer to this dilemma is to simply chill out. Give pounding the pavements a rest for a few hours. Find a local park, a church or an oasis and enjoy the silence. Look after your mental health, as well as your physical health.
